Going by whatever whacked laws and rules and regulations you think you need to adhere to, you're basically buying nothing but a useless collection of plastic and silicon when you buy a 3DS. The only rights you have to that device are: 1) The right to destroy it however you see fit 2) The right to use that device within whatever narrow confines the EULA presents You can't modify the hardware, because everything is encrypted and protected. You can't modify the software for the same reason, since reverse engineering things is also illegal. You can use the device 'as intended' (read: only for long enough until it becomes unprofitable for you to continue using that particular generation of device), or basically throw it out the window or drive over it with a car. Fortunately, I live somewhere where EULAs are unenforceable in court, and the government tries their best to not perpetually **** all over their citizens rights. Maybe you live somewhere where the concept of 'ownership' no longer exists (except for the government owning you, perhaps)- but I don't. So once again, I really don't care. Neither do the emulator writers, a large majority of whom do not live in the USA. Citra is the best of all available Nintendo emulator. It is written in c++ and supports a wide range of games and it has an active development team which makes it one of the growing emulator with rich features on it. It’s available on all platform including Mac, Windows, and Linux. You can re-iterate how crazy your laws are within your own country to me as many times as you want. It doesn't apply to me and I don't care, and quite frankly I'm glad a lot of other people don't. I'm not saying piracy is good, you should buy things you enjoy (because that means you'll get more things to enjoy in the future from the same folks). I'm saying that bat-**** crazy stuff like EULAs and TOS's are, well, bat-**** crazy. What needs to be kept in mind here is that 3DS games are still being manufactured and sold RIGHT NOW. If you are downloading ROMs for 3DS games, you are engaged in piracy. And you are considered as doing so for as long as those games and system are being made. No, emulation is not illegal. Without it, things would have just got lost in history, and games would be limited to greedy collectors. And for the MOST part, either is downloading a ROM from a system up to the sixth generation, minus the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox. Nintendo are well aware that you're not going to spend $5 to play a game from the early 90s, especially when it costs over $100 to get a system to play it. But for those that do have a Wii or 3DS, they'll gladly take the money to do so. So will other companies, hence the Virtual Console store. Sega has taken it a step forward and is remastering all the Sonic titles and has some of their catalog on Steam. However, since most of this stuff is legacy backups, they aren't really losing any money. Pirating the versions found on the eShop, iTunes, Steam, etc, that's another story. BTW - The Internet Archive just opened The Console Living Room with stuff for the Atari consoles, ColecoVision, Magnavox Odyssey², and Astrocade. Some of it is downloadable. Oh, as for the rights for using your console. You can do whatever you want to it, but modifying it voids your warranty. Game (also available for Windows), that is part of the category PC games with subcategory Emulators. Emulator #1: FCEUX Platform: Windows/Linux Price: Free Author: FCEUX Team and consoles have always been continuously evolving, from pixelated mind puzzle games to amazing near photo-realistic games that emulate on powerful machines and attempt to tell you a story. Many of these games aim to give you the feeling of being in a movie. Download FCEUX For those hardcore gamers that want to experience gaming as it was several years ago, software like FCEUX NES emulator is a little gem in the sense that they allow you to emulate NES. Major Features One of the best features about the application is that virtually no setup is required, which means that you can store it on a removable, along with your game collection ( which are also quite small) to enjoy these classics anywhere you go. What’s more, is that this NES emulator uses incredibly low system resources, making it highly compatible with a large variety of configurations – yes, you don’t have to worry about accuracy or any major bugs. ( at least with their latest update) Before launching any game in the FCEUX emulator, you might want to pay a visit to the Input Configuration screen to set up the controls. If you happen to own a joystick controller, even NES-style ones, provided the proper equipment you can hook it up with your PC for a like no other. Customized controls can be saved as presets which you can then quickly load, depending on one’s preferences. An obvious advantage over the real gaming console is the save state feature in your FCEUX Emulator. It gives you the ability to save any game at any specific point in time in case you consider the following stage is somewhat difficult for you to clear with limited lives. Additionally, you can also use integrated functions to, and yes, that includes audio as well. All in all, the FCEUX NES Emulator is one of the applications every gamer should have in their arsenal of other games and consoles being emulated. It comes equipped with various tools for debugging, memory watches, and lots of other configurations ( leave these settings alone if you don’t know what they mean), as well as native support for controllers. You can look for other nes emulator download below. Emulator #2: Nintendulator Platform: Windows Price: Free Author: Quietust Nintendulator is a free, and accurate one of the NES Emulators written in C that was designed with quality over speed in mind. Nintendulator provides you with a lightweight yet sturdy NES emulator. There are a myriad number of NES Emulators available for use, and some of them are paid, but a lot of them are not. Moreover, Nintendulator is one of that lot and a pretty good one to start with. Its development began back in 2002, and since then, the emulator has been under constant development until recently. Nintendulator Also, its user interface features all those useful tools needed when dealing with the NES Emulator which supports NES, UNIF, FDS, and NSF. You can save and load states of the loaded NES game, perform soft and hard resets just like you would on an actual gaming console. The menu helps you access features like frameskip, size modifiers or slow down, whereas the Input menu brings the controller configuration panel on your screen. Everything about Nintendulator NES Emulator is right. It is well-built, and the effort that has been put in developing the emulator really pays off. The vast set of available tools also includes AVI capture as well as debugging capabilities similar to the FCEUX Emulator. Furthermore, the bottom-line here is that Nintendulator is a complete NES Emulator. Emulator #3: BizHawk Platform: Windows Price: Free Author: BizHawk Team Similarly, BizHawk is a multi-system emulator that was designed predominantly around the production of Tool Assisted Speedruns or “ TAS” for short. Also, it is written in C# and requires.NET Framework 4.0 (in 1.X releases) or.NET Framework 4.6.1 ( in 2.X releases) to run. Why didn't anyone tell me that Logitech has come out with a new trackball? I'm an absolutely dedicated trackball user, as you might already know if you saw my post about the last March. But I didn't realize that shortly after I wrote that, and seven years since their last new trackball (the M570), Logitech announced the MX Ergo trackball. Of course, I got one as quickly as I could, and now I am ready to try it out. Image: Logitech The list price is 129 Swiss francs (£99.99 / €109 / $99.99). That's not cheap, but at least it is pretty easy to find one here for about 90 francs, that's a bit more reasonable. It is supposed to be available in black, white, or blue, but I could only find black here. The size, shape, and ball and button placement are similar to the M570 trackball, although it is a bit wider, which I find makes it a bit more comfortable when I rest my hand on it. It is also quite a bit heavier than the M570, and it feels like it is much more solidly built. One of the major new features of this trackball is the ability to tilt it 20 degrees up from the normal flat position that the M570 had. Logitech MX ERGO Advanced Wireless Trackball for Windows PC and Mac (Certified Refurbished) 4.3 out of 5 stars 14. That is super convenient for a wireless trackball. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because I wish it had USB-C, and I wish it gave you the option to use it as a wired mouse instead of only wireless. Hard Travel Case for. Logitech MX Ergo trackball tilt feature Image: Logitech. I would like to take a minute here to gripe about the information of the web page. First, in the text on that page it says you can 'choose the best angle between 0 degrees and 20 degrees'. That's not right, you can't choose an angle between zero and 20, you can choose either zero or 20 degrees, period. Second, in the little promotional video Logitech has on that page, it includes an incline counter which runs from zero to 20 degrees when the trackball is tilted. Again, this implies that you could stop at some arbitrary angle along the way, but you can't. I know this isn't a big deal, but it bothers me. Sorry for the minor rant, and we now return to your regular hardware review. My first impression after just an hour or two of use is that I will have it at the 20 degree tilt, because my wrist and arm really do feel more comfortable in that position. MX Ergo Precision Mode button and LED Image: Logitech The second major new feature on the MX Ergo Trackball is the 'Precision Mode button', located on the side just above the ball. Pressing this button changes the speed and resolution of the trackball, so if you are making fine adjustments with the cursor it is a lot easier to control. There is a small LED adjacent to the button which comes on when Precision Mode is active. The Precision Mode button is entirely local to the trackball. Switching Precision Mode on and off is done within the trackball itself, and it does not generate a mouse button event to the computer. Another major change in this trackball is the use of a rechargeable battery rather than ordinary AA batteries. It is charged using a micro USB cable, which is included. The micro USB charging port is located on the front of the trackball, just below the front edge of the buttons. There is also a battery status and warning LED on the top of the trackball, just behind the 'Easy-Switch' button. The Logitech webpage says that the battery will hold for up to four months on a full charge. It then includes the typical disclaimer which says battery life may vary based on user and computing conditions. More useful information though, is that it says one minute of charge will give up to a full day of use (with the same silly disclaimer). At least, though, what this means to me is that if I find the trackball battery dead in the morning, or it dies during the day, I can charge it up enough while getting a cup of coffee to last through the day. Like many of the latest mice from Logitech (such as my M720 and M590), the MX Ergo can connect to two computers, and both connections can be via either the Logitech Unifying receiver or Bluetooth. One Unifying receiver is included with the trackball, and I noticed that it is now possible to purchase another receiver on the Logitech webpage. Pairing and switching between systems is controlled by the Easy Switch button and indicator LEDs, located right on top of the trackball. If you want to use the MX Ergo on a Linux system (as I obviously do), you will need to install the package so that you can manage the Unifying receiver. Fortunately, this package is now included in the repositories of most Linux distributions, so you can install it quite easily via whatever software manager or package manager your distribution includes. Pairing is then basically the same for either Bluetooth or Unifying. First, you select the host channel you want to use on the trackball (1 or 2), by pressing the Easy Switch button. Then you put the trackball into pairing mode (it doesn't matter at this point if you are going to use Bluetooth or Unifying), by pressing and holding the Easy Switch button for a few seconds, until the status led starts to blink rapidly.
